Wespath Update

Dear participant,

As the summer season winds down, change is on the horizon. You may be experiencing a lot of change, such as the beginning of a new school year, a new year of programming at your local church or the phasing-in of on-site employees at your workplace. As British statesman and novelist Benjamin Disraeli once said: “Change is inevitable. Change is constant.”

In this Wespath update, you’ll learn of several changes on our horizon, such as our recent announcement of Andrew (Andy) Hendren as our next Chief Executive Officer/General Secretary and our quarterly newsletter changes. You’ll also learn about educational opportunities to help you achieve your retirement goals and prepare for financial challenges.

With more than 100 years of success and sustainability behind our retirement plans, investments solutions, and health benefit plans, Wespath remains committed to caring for those who serve—especially during seasons of change.

Wespath Announces CEO/General Secretary-Elect

Wespath’s Board of Directors has elected Andrew (Andy) Hendren as our next Chief Executive Officer and General Secretary, effective January 3, 2022. Hendren will succeed current CEO/General Secretary Barbara Boigegrain, who will retire at the end of 2021 after leading Wespath for more than 27 years.

Hendren currently is Wespath’s Chief Legal and Governance Officer and a member of the Senior Leadership Team. He has strong relationships throughout The United Methodist Church, with other denominations through leadership roles in the multi-denominational Church Alliance, and within legislative and regulatory circles.

“I’m excited to guide the next chapter of Wespath’s service and support for our participants and investors,” said Hendren. Learn more about Wespath’s next leader in this press release.

Quarterly Newsletter Changes

This fall, Wespath will launch a new quarterly newsletter combining the financial, retirement and investment articles in HARK! with the health and well-being topics of Dimensions. Topics in the new quarterly Dimensions will include retirement and financial planning, tips and resources to improve the five dimensions of your well-being (spiritual, social, mental-emotional, physical and financial), stories about how your investments are making an impact in communities, and the fan favorite: healthy and tasty recipes.

If you haven’t already done so, GO GREEN and begin receiving your quarterly statements electronically. Log into Benefits Access and go to “Profile” to make the switch.

We want to hear from you

If you have any topics or questions you would like us to address in our newsletter and other communications, we want to know. Please send any ideas, questions or comments to wellnessteam@wespath.org.
